13th July 2014

During June and July we’ve been very busy at Hill House – Trengrove & Trevenna in the garden and in the cottages…

Trengrove’s kitchen has been painted, along with the pine dresser, in a beautiful Farrow & Ball grey called Purbeck Stone, which looks great with the original slate floor and really draws the open plan room together. New AEG induction hobs and new cookers have been installed in both Trengrove and Trevenna, along with new pots and pans. Trengrove now has a new shower in the en-suite bathroom and a new fridge-freezer. We’ve also added new solid teak contemporary furniture; a dining table with six chairs and a coffee table for the sitting room which is great for boardgames. Trevenna also has some new furniture inside and out with new tables and chairs for the dining area and the terrace.

In the garden Christian worked and fought for days carrying out the dreaded yearly bramble clearance! And we planted more flowers and herbs in both gardens, tended the roses we planted in May 2013, which are now coming on superbly, and replanted Trevenna’s window boxes, sowed new grass as well as meadow flower seeds in the borders.

We’ve also bought new pillows for all the beds, two sorts to try and cater for differing tastes and allergy sufferers: The Gosa Pinje Pillow (filling 90% duck feathers, 10% duck down) is suitable if you sleep on your stomach since the low feather pillow makes the neck less bent and reduces strain on your muscles. The Gosa Hassel Pillow (filling Polyurethane memory foam) is suitable if you sleep on your side since the height of the synthetic pillow keeps your head, neck and spine aligned and straight so you can relax.

We will be posting new photographs of all the changes as soon as possible, but we’re so booked up at present it will probably be autumn before the photographer can have the place to himself!
